This malaria free resort boasts a variety of biomes and eco systems rich in flora and fauna diversity and is home to the roaming Waterberg Leopard and Brown Hyena. Roaming free there are at least 20 different buck species including Nyala, Giraffe, Zebra, Waterbuck and Kudo.
Perhaps of greater importance, resultant from past years of conservancy management, is the resort’s pristine and diversity rich bird life. Mutapa’s bird checklist already exceeds 205 species and is still being continually upgraded. In conjunction with other ornithologists’ and interested groups, Mutapa resort is committed to conserve existing and re-introduce new indigenous species to the reserve and growing it into one of the most exciting birding sites in Limpopo.
Mutapa Resort is a mixed theme and use resort, offering entertainment and pastimes to suit all adventure travellers including soon to be, exotic sea world experiences in Mozambique through its associate company Mavilone Hotel and resorts.
The Company is currently engaged in the refurbishment of the Xai-Xai Hotel in the town of the same name. This very exciting Sea resort is located in the heart of Mozambiques’ unspoilt pristine beaches, warm sea, filled with wonderful adventurous whale watching, deep sea fishing, cruising the Limpopo river and many other exciting experiences.
We at Mutapa “The Conquered Lands“, Aim in a small but very special way to pay tribute and resurrect some aspects of this once great African Empire that homogenised African to Black Jews of Africa, Swahili, Arabic and Portuguese traders in search of gold, Ivory and other riches. Some believed that this area was the secret location of the Solomon’s mines.
Mutapa Lodge rises through the spirit of the great Nguni nation “People without land/country“, which were formed of lost African tribes’ people without land of their own, which rose to predominance after the demise of the Monomatapa empire.
At Mutapa resorts we attempt the recreation of this once great site’s history and culture, through a mix of various African emblems, colour, night sound beats and culture of the times as well as a rich culinary heritage diversity that brings together a local cuisine diversity from African, Arabic, Indian and Portuguese influences that is to be enjoyed and relieved under the star bright skies of Mutapa.
